Scores

2008-07-14: Sacramento 4, Salt Lake 1 #
Rodriguez, S: 3-5, 2 2B, 1 K
Wood: 0-2, 2 BB, 2 K
Pavkovich: 0-4, 4 K
Loux: (L, 10-5), 7.0 IP, 2 R, 1 ER, 6 H, 4 K, 2 BB, 1 HR, 4.08 ERA
Brandon Wood doesn't hit, Sean Rodriguez does, Shane Loux pitched well but his offense couldn't cover him. I'd say this team is ready for the major league club... Adam Pavkovich got the golden sombrero.
2008-07-14: Arkansas 1, NW Arkansas 2 #
Pettit: 0-4
Stavisky: 2-4
Fuller: 1-3, 1 HR, 1 RBI
Diaz: (L, 0-1), 6.2 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 8 H, 3 K, 2 BB, 1 HR, 2.70 ERA
Browning: 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 0 K, 0 BB, 3.48 ERA
Amalio Diaz pitched well in his first appearance at AA this year, but as is typical for the Angels' system, he got inadequate run support. Cody Fuller's solo homer accounted for the Travs' only run.
2008-07-14: Lake Elsinore 3, Rancho Cucamonga 7 #
Phillips: 1-4, 3 K
Mount: 0-4
Trumbo: 0-2, 1 RBI, 1 BB
Conger: 1-4
Toussaint: 2-4, 1 3B, 1 RBI
Infante: 2-2, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 2 BB
Rosario, An: 1-2, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB
Torres: (W, 1-0), 6.0 IP, 1 R, 0 ER, 2 H, 5 K, 2 BB, 0.00 ERA
Alexander Torres pitched well in his first game ever above the complex leagues, going one over the minimum through the first five frames, allowing only an unearned run in six. Otherwise, the team's offensive troubles seem to be continuing, as none of Hank Conger, Mark Trumbo, or Ryan Mount made an effective showing at the plate. Anderson Rosario was the game's big contributor, with a two-run dinger in the second inning.
2008-07-14: Cedar Rapids 1, Great Lakes 2 (10 innings) #
Romine: 1-4, 1 K
Johnson: 2-3, 1 3B, 1 BB, 1 K
Walden: 7.2 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 6 H, 9 K, 1 BB, 2.18 ERA
Ford: (L, 2-1) (in relief), 1.2 IP, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 4 K, 1 BB, 3.00 ERA
Andruw Jones in training? Okay, so Mattingly can't play center field; even though the Loons won this one, Preston Mattingly's five strikeouts really pop out at you. Jordan Walden pitched a brilliant game but lost anyway, despite picking up the lead in the top of the seventh and defending it successfully in the bottom of the frame, he allowed the tying run to cross the plate in the eighth on Andrew Lambo's two-out RBI single. The winning run came from an unexpected and embarrassing walkoff walk off Chris Armstrong to Lambo again.
2008-07-14: Billings 16, Orem 6 #
Kiniry: 2-4, 1 RBI, 2 K
Lopez: 1-3, 1 2B, 2 BB
Jacobo: 1-3, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB
Short: (L, 1-2), 2.0 IP, 10 R, 9 ER, 9 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 6.48 ERA
Thorne: 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 H, 3 K, 0 BB, 0.00 ERA
An 8 MPH wind out to center probably didn't help Owlz starter Baron Short, who had his shortest outing of the year. He gave up four in the fourth, and it only got worse from there, as Billings exploded for 16 runs in the first four frames. The opposition only hit two home runs off Orem pitching, though one of those was a grand slam by Alex Buchholz in the seven-run third.
2008-07-14: AZL Angels did not play
2008-07-14: Tacoma 3, Las Vegas 13 #
Repko: 2-4
Paul: 2-5, 1 2B
Lindsey: 2-4, 2 RBI, 1 BB
Griffin: 3-3, 1 2B, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 1 BB
Jones, M: 2-5, 1 HR, 4 RBI, 1 K
Chavez, A: 4-5, 1 2B, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 K
Howard, K: 2-5, 2 RBI
Meloan: (W, 5-9), 7.0 IP, 3 R, 3 ER, 8 H, 4 K, 1 BB, 2 HR, 5.18 ERA
A nice outing by Jon Meloan, who gave up a couple of homers and a bunch of other hits besides, but only one walk. Mitch Jones, John-Ford Griffin, and Angel Chavez all homered in a rather lopsided victory over Tacoma, who had the amusingly named Joe Woerman (2-7, 7.44 ERA) on the mound to take the loss.
