The Strangest Dream

Thursday morning I dreamed I had, by some clerical accident, become the Dodgers' manager. I arrived at Dodger Stadium late for my first game, and started putting on the uniform just as the away team had started batting practice — late! And then the press corps wanted to talk to me and I didn't have anything good to say.

I even woke up before I got to fill in a lineup card. That was annoying.

Then you should have just blamed the kids for their approach.

The lateness represents anxiety. The Dodgers represent powerlessness.

Thing is, I'm not sure you're wrong.

Oh, and the away team? The Cardinals. Albert Pujols was in the batter's cage, hitting tape measure shots that bounced off the far end of the home bullpen.
