Everybody's Waitin' For The Man With The Bat: Dodgers 3, Phillies 1

It only seems like Santa's arrived early this year*, as the Dodgers swept the Phils, the very last team against whom you'd think they could pull this off. Hiroki Kuroda was excellent, or anyways better than Brett Myers, who didn't pitch too badly through six. Kuroda gave up one run through seven, striking out seven, and getting just enough offensive support to collect the win.

Nomar got to star in this one, looking like his old brilliant self from Boston, making dazzling plays at short while driving in a run. Matt Kemp had a solo homer that proved the winning tally, a blast into the outfield pavilion a couple rows deep.

Really, against the NL East leading Phillies? Oops, I forgot — no more, now that the Mets beat Washington 9-3, the Mets are back atop the East by a game. The Dodgers are still tied with the Snakes at 62-59, and the NL West looks a little less embarrassing now.

*Those wondering what the hell I'm talking about can go here. Forget Vonda Shepard, Kay Starr's the real deal.
