Minor League Scorebook

2008-08-02: Salt Lake 5, Omaha 3 (11 innings) #
Rodriguez, S: 3-5, 1 HR, 1 RBI
Morales: 1-5, 1 K
Wood: 1-5
Brown, D: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 BB, 1 K
Green: 7.0 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 7 H, 5 K, 1 BB, 2 HR, 4.74 ERA
Bootcheck: 1.0 IP, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 1 K, 1 BB, 4.85 ERA
Bulger: (W, 3-0) (in relief), 2.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 H, 4 K, 4 BB, 0.53 ERA
Bonilla: (S, 2), 1.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 H, 0 K, 0 BB, 4.81 ERA
Salt Lake won in extras on the road; they had to stage a two-run ninth inning rally as it was to even get it to extras, sparked by a Brandon Wood single off former major leaguer Brandon Duckworth. Dee Brown doubled him home, and Adam Pavkovich tied the game with an RBI single.

The Bees won the game on a Ben Johnson RBI double in the top of the 11th, and Adam Morrissey's RBI single got Salt Lake an insurance run to make it 5-3. Jason Bulger got the win in relief, and Henry Bonilla collected his second save. Nick Green pitched a solid seven innings, a quality start plus that earned him a no-decision.

2008-08-02: NW Arkansas 5, Arkansas 2 #
Stavisky: 1-2, 2 BB, 1 K
Trumbo: 0-4, 2 K
Pettit: 0-4, 2 K
Smith, Cor: 2-4
Denham: (L, 9-9), 6.0 IP, 3 R, 2 ER, 4 H, 6 K, 2 BB, 3.71 ERA
The Travs lost their fourth straight game as Dan Denham contributed a quality start. One of the three runs was unearned thanks to an error by 2B Nate Sutton in the fourth. Mark Trumbo had his second 0-fer game in the Texas League; he's already got seven strikeouts but has yet to earn a walk.
2008-08-02: Lancaster 7, Rancho Cucamonga 6 #
Bourjos: 0-5, 3 K
Nieves: 1-3, 1 2B, 2 BB, 1 K
Mount: 2-5, 2 RBI
Napoli: 1-2, 1 BB
Conger: 2-5, 1 RBI, 1 K
Toussaint: 2-4, 1 K
Phillips: 1-4, 2 RBI, 2 K
Towns: (L, 0-3), 2.1 IP, 4 R, 1 ER, 6 H, 2 K, 0 BB, 1 HR, 5.40 ERA
Bell: 2.1 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 H, 1 K, 1 BB, 4.64 ERA
Rancho trailed all the way in this one but made it interesting with a six-run seventh that saw seven hits, all singles, and a walk. Mike Napoli played his first rehab game, and went 1-for-2 with a walk as a DH.
2008-08-02: Clinton 4, Cedar Rapids 2 #
Romine: 0-3, 1 BB, 1 K
Fuller: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 K
Estrella: 2-3, 1 2B
Jimenez: (L, 4-6), 5.0 IP, 3 R, 3 ER, 7 H, 5 K, 4 BB, 4.29 ERA
2008-08-02: Idaho Falls 6, Orem 4 #
Jimenez: 2-4, 1 HR, 2 RBI
Giovanatto: 2-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI
Taylor: 1.1 IP, 3 R, 2 ER, 2 H, 2 K, 3 BB, 6.95 ERA
Plefka: (L, 1-1) (in relief), 2.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 H, 3 K, 2 BB, 9.00 ERA
Kohn: 2.0 IP, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 H, 4 K, 1 BB, 1 HR, 2.87 ERA
Homers from Luis Jimenez and Donato Giovanatto weren't enough to overcome a terrible collective pitching performance that gave up 11 walks and four fielding errors that astonishingly yielded only one unearned run. Starter Andrew Taylor lasted only an inning and a third and took the loss, marking a series loss for the Owlz.
2008-08-02: AZL Angels 13, AZL Mariners 1 (7 innings) #
Amarista: 3-4, 1 BB
Alliman: 3-5, 1 3B, 1 HR, 5 RBI, 1 K
Peel, A: 1-3, 1 2B, 2 BB
Bass: 2-3, 1 K
Wing: 2-2, 1 3B, 2 RBI, 2 BB
Hurst: (W, 2-0), 5.0 IP, 0 R, 0 ER, 4 H, 5 K, 1 BB, 2.35 ERA
The Angels pounded the Mariners in a makeup doubleheader, with the Angels posting a seven-run fourth; Terrell Alliman capped scoring that frame with a three-run homer, and paced the team with five RBIs.

The team has two rehabbing players from higher levels, Aaron Peel and Brad Coon. Peel has been with the team since July 21, and has yet to have a game with more than one hit. Odd.

2008-08-02: AZL Mariners 3, AZL Angels 2 (7 innings) #
Amarista: 2-4
Farnsworth: 2-3
Crawford: 2-3, 1 HR, 1 RBI

DeWitt: 0-4
Paul: 2-4, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 K
Jones, M: 2-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 K
Penny: 4.0 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 6 H, 4 K, 1 BB, 4.50 ERA
LaMura: (L, 1-2) (in relief), 4.0 IP, 2 R, 2 ER, 6 H, 1 K, 1 BB, 7.14 ERA
The 51's were unable to capitalize on a leadoff hit-by-pitch on Jason Repko in the first, which was somewhat typical of this whole game. The team had leads of 1-0 and 3-2 and held on to neither of them, ultimately losing in the eighth when Nick Trzesniak got a leadoff triple off B.J. LaMura and was cashed in on Casey Benjamin's sac fly. Las Vegas mounted a rally in the top of the ninth off Wes Littleton that put men on the corners with one out, but Kevin Howard and Jason Repko flied out to end the threat.
