News
- The Salt Lake Bees have disabled Giancarlo Alvarado with a right shoulder strain. To fill his spot, Dan Davidson will take over.
- The Angels optioned Darren O'Day back to AAA Salt Lake, and purchased the contract of Shane Loux. It's not clear whom he replaced on the 40-man, but I assume it was Chris Bootcheck.
- The Angels signed 11th-round draft pick Rolando Gomez on July 31 for $450,000.
- Trevor Reckling was named Midwest League Pitcher of the Week for his two games in which he allowed zero earned runs.
- Orem's Luis Jimenez made Offensive Player of the Week for the Pioneer League for his three-homer week.
- James McDonald was promoted to AAA Las Vegas, according to Tony Jackson. Incidentally, I should mention that the Dodgers make it really hard to follow their minor league affiliates; most of their teams don't have their own websites, and the ones that do don't offer e-mail alerts and that kind of thing.

The 51's took a 2-0 lead into the fourth and lost the game right there, as Heath Totten walked the first two batters of the frame and eventually gave up three; though the inning ended on a flyball double play, Michael Abreu was able to safely score from third on the sacrifice, but Raul Casanova was called out at first for tagging up too early. Las Vegas had opportunities to tie the game, most notably in the top of the fifth when Jason Repko hit a one-out double, but New Orleans pitching held the lead.
