Turn That Frown Upside Down: Dodgers 7, Brewers 5

I snoozed through most of this game, what with the Dodgers getting the early lead by making soup out of Jeff Suppan. Kershaw pitched well despite having only one 1-2-3 inning in the whole affair, giving up only a solo homer to Mike Cameron. The bullpen looked to have things well in hand going into the ninth, with Jason Johnson (!) looking to nail down a rare three-inning save. Once he allowed a one-out single to Jason Kendall, that was enough for Joe Torre to give him the hook in favor of Chan Ho Park. Park allowed yet another baserunner on a pair of embarrassing errors by James Loney, Loney who in the same play first misfielded Craig Counsell's grounder, and then threw the ball away, allowing Kendall to reach third and Counsell to get to second.

That brought up Ryan Braun, and there Park compounded his mistakes by giving Braun something to hit on an 0-2 pitch. Braun served notice to the Dodgers bullpen that someone else would be needed to finish the inning by pounding the ball into that cavity, tying the game to the astonishment of the assembled crowd, who started booing lustily.

Joe Beimel finished the inning, which led to the Brewers bringing in Carlos Villaneuva to restore order. The Dodgers managed to finish this one out storybook-style, with the Bison getting a leadoff single and Andre Ethier a two-run walkoff homer to send everybody home happy. The shot was his second of the game, and is that more valuable than Pierre's base-stealing skills?
