And that's a wrap as the Travs took their seventh Texas League title Monday night, thumping Frisco 11-3. Believe it or not, the Travs won a comeback victory, as the RoughRiders scored first on Dustin Majewski's one-out groundout that drove in Elvis Andrus from third, but that was all they got that frame. The Travs answered with four in the third, sparked by a Chris Pettit triple, one of two Arkansas hit that inning (the other by Wilberto Ortiz).
That was prelude for the sixth inning; the first run scored on Ben Johnson's squeeze bunt, and it became a merry-go-round thereafter, with Corey Smith bunt singling in another run, Mark Trumbo cashing in a pair on a ground ball single up the middle, and another bunt by Coby Smith; needless to say, Andrew Laughter wasn't laughing by this point. Smith stole second and third, and Nate Sutton cashed him in, while Brian Stavisky homered to cap scoring. The seven runs capped the Travs' scoring and pretty much sealed the game.
Travelerocity has more, and as I was, found themselves dumbfounded at the team's sudden run, especially considering how badly they played in the second half (they didn't make the second half postseason, sporting an eight game losing streak in August).
With this, the Minor League Scorebook series comes to an end until the Arizona Fall League warms up. Thanks, everyone.
