Seattle Eliminated From The Wild Card, Too; Angels' Magic Number Down To 8
Though they were the first to be eliminated from any division race, Seattle is the second team to be eliminated from any postseason contention, and the first team in the AL; the first was Washington.
In related news, the Mariners unexpectedly and soundly beat the Rangers 12-6 in Arlington, thus sending the Angels' magic number down to 8. Adrian Beltre hit for the cycle, making him one of two men to do so today, the other being Stephen Drew in today's St. Louis/Arizona contest, only the second time in MLB history this has happened.
