ALDS Game 1: Rays 6, Chisox 4
Bottom 3rd: Ken Griffey, Jr. pays for bad positioning; he went in on Akinori Iwamura, and Iwamura belted a line drive over his head. Jason Bartlett, who reached on a single, scored from first, and Iwamura got to third on a triple. It's 3-2 Sox, and there's only one out.
Willy Aybar knocks a fly ball to left, and that sac fly cashes in Iwamura, who slides in to home to tie the game 3-3 — and then Longoria establishes his postseason cred with his second dinger of the game. 4-3 Rays. Carl Crawford flies out to end the frame, but it's quite a comeback.
Bottom 5th: Longoria tags Vazquez again with an RBI single that cashes in B.J. Upton from second. That's all for Vazquez, who suffers his fourth straight bad outing. It's 5-3 Rays, and there's still only one out with men on first and second.
Carl Crawford drives in the final run of the inning against reliever Clayton Richard with an RBI single, making it 6-3 Rays.
Top 7th: Shields gets himself into a jam when he hits A.J. Pierzynski to load the bases with only one out. That's it for Shields, who leaves with the tying run on base. The unfortunately named Grant Balfour comes in to relieve him. He gets the next two batters in order to end the threat and frustrate the Sox.
Bottom 8th: The Rays load the bases with two out against Richard, and that's it for him. B.J. Upton enters the game to face Octavio Dotel. Dotel goes 2-0 against Upton, but then gets him to strike out to end the threat.
Top 9th: Dan Wheeler comes in to close the game and gives up a leadoff homer to Paul Konerko. He retires the next three batters in order, and it's 6-4 Rays, final.
