And Now, Darren Oliver Has Back Stiffness

Which explains the Angels bringing up Matt Palmer:
Angels manager Mike Scioscia confirmed before tonight’s game that Triple-A right-hander Matt Palmer will be promoted to start Thursday against the Detroit Tigers.

That decision made more sense after he also revealed that left-hander Darren Oliver has been bothered by “a little stiffness” in his arm since going four innings (and 62 pitches) Saturday against the Twins. It was Oliver’s first start since August 2004 and clearly extended the 38-year-old farther than he was prepared to go.

That’s why he has been moved back to the bullpen where his availability is “day to day.”

What's that, starter number eleven for the year?

Still no word on who's gonna get bumped off the 40-man roster to make room for Palmer, but if I hadda guess, I'd say it's Terry Evans.
