The Offense Stinks, And Howard Kendrick Most Of All: Mariners 1, Angels 0
The main thing you need to know about this game is Howie Kendrick's at bat in the fourth. Following a double and two walks, Howie swung at starter Chris Jakubauskas' first pitch and popped out weakly to right to end the frame. Despite the earlier comments by Steve Bisheff about how Howard (what he seems to insist on being called these days — coincidence his offense is stiff, too?) "has the ability", he isn't showing it. Salt Lake beckons after crap performances like that.
The good news was Ervin Santana pitching a surprisingly good game all things considered, getting stronger as the game wore on. Jose Arredondo finished the game without incident, and I'll take that any day of the week.
