Bulger Blows It: Tigers 9, Angels 6
Bottom 8th: There's plenty to talk about here — a leadoff homer by Chone Figgins in the first that sparked an early 3-0 Angels lead, Joe Saunders' crummy start that erased that lead and more, another inning-ending, rally-killing GIDP by Vlad, who's becoming an expert at it, but most of all, a heroic comeback that the Angels' bullpen simply couldn't hold on to, as Jason Bulger walked the bases loaded and gave up a grand slam in the eighth. It really is unbelievable, and one wonders why Matt Palmer or Rich Thompson are at the back of the bus after games like this one.
This bullpen is killing this team, full stop.
Top 9th: Juan Rivera drove in Vlad to make it 9-6 Tigers, but it was a weak rally (as all such rallies tend to be when you don't have home run power, dear God, where is Brandon Wood). Stop it, please, stop it.
