Joe Torre Named To All-Star Game Coaching Staff
Joe Torre was selected by Charlie Manuel to be a coach on this year's NL All-Star team.
AL manager Joe Maddon wanted to tap Mike Scioscia for his team, "but league officials advised otherwise, since Scioscia almost certainly will coach next season, when the All-Star Game is played in Anaheim."

Why don't the league officials just choose all the coaches since they want to advise the manager not to pick certain people anyway.
