Off-Duty Anaheim Police Officer Released After Postgame Shooting

An off-duty Anaheim policeman shot and wounded two brothers following last night's Angels game.
The officer called the local police station to request help, saying he was having a confrontation with two men who were trying to get into his vehicle. The officer said the two men had choked him, Martinez said. The officer shot the two men -- one in the chin and the other in the arm -- after they began hitting him over the head with beer bottles. Martinez said he did not know if the gun used was the officer's service pistol.
The unidentified officer was treated and released; the two brothers are still hospitalized. The Orange County district attorney's office is investigating.
