Another Pettitte Pounding: Angels 14, Yankees 8

Andy Pettitte had a 7.94 ERA against the Angels last year, his second-worst against any opponent and his worst against any team where he had three or more starts. This game wasn't any better, as he got knocked about for six runs without making it out of the fifth.

Eric Hinske homered twice, once off Weaver, a surprising concession to a left-handed batter; Weaver's generally done much better against them this year than in prior seasons. Hinske homered again against Darren Oliver, and while I remembered that Oliver had marked reverse splits in 2007 (and at times in 2008), he seems to have settled back to more typical lefty-vs-lefty performance.

Highlight of the game for me, though I missed virtually all of it due to preparations for a friend's birthday party: Brandon Wood's two-run jack in the fifth. More, please.

Not a quality start for Jered Weaver, but I'll take it, especially given how craptastic the rest of the rotation and/or bullpen has been.
