So what exactly happened with Kendrick earlier in the season? And how did he get back to hitting like his old self?

"I was getting myself out," he said, explaining his slump. "I wasn't being patient at the plate, and I let it get too far along. Now when I look back, I'm not glad it happened. No one is ever glad to get sent down. But at the same time, I think it helped me figure myself out.

"Now I'm just trying to have quality at-bats. I'm a little more patient. I'm laying off a lot of bad pitches."
