The Quakes struggled with men in scoring position the whole game, and in fact ended up stranding five overall. All the runs scored in the top of the ninth, with Jay Brossman singling home Jeremy Moore from third to push across the go-ahead run. Michael Kohn got the save, and Manuel Flores pitched seven innings of scoreless ball as the starter. The Quakes start a best-of-five series against High Desert on Saturday.

Matt Crawford was hit by a pitch in the bottom of the ninth to win this one, which looked like a sure loss for the Kernels; Tyler Chatwood got battered for eight runs, seven earned. The Kernels will face the Burlington Bees in the Midwest League finals in a best-of-three series starting Saturday.

Comments:
Kohn looks like a pretty solid prospect at the moment. It's hard to find fault with a 60/12 K/BB ratio at Cedar Rapids.
