However lucky or artful the Dodgers have been to win in starts against Chris Carpenter and Adam Wainwright — two Cy Young contenders — they had better hope they can seal the deal today against Joel Pinero, because those same two starters will reprise their roles if a game 4 and/or 5 will be necessitated by a Cardinals win today. Carpenter would be starting on three days rest for the first time in his career.
