Rockies @ Phillies NLDS Game 2: Rockies 5, Phillies 4
But that was pretty much the end of the cruising for the Rocks. Aaron Cook, who had given up harmless singles in every inning prior to the fifth (and a walk in the third to Cole Hamels), started getting hit hard in the fifth, though without result. The sixth was a different story, and Cook failed to retire anyone in the inning, ultimately giving up an RBI double to Ryan Howard. Jose Contreras relieved him, and allowed his inherited baserunners to score, bringing the score to 4-3 and putting the Phils within a run.
Colorado picked up another run on Dexter Fowler's sac fly in the seventh, but Todd Helton was unable to solve reliever Joe Blanton for more. Similarly, Jayson Werth's solo homer in the eighth got the game back to a one-run game, but Franklin Morales finished off Raul Ibanez to end the frame. The Rocks loaded the bases up in the top of the frame, but Jason Giambi struck out swinging to end the threat.
Huston Street came in for the bottom of the ninth and got the first two out fairly easily, despite allowing a one-out walk to Matt Stairs. But Jimmy Rollins stroked an elevated slider for a single, and Shane Victorino, loops one out to Clint Barmes to end the game with the winning run at first.
