Angels, Hideki Matsui In Talks; UPDATE: Deal Done
For a DH role. The contract is rumored to be one year at $6.5M. Not sure I like it, but at this point he's probably a better option for DH than Vlad. Come to think of it, I could see a scenario where Vlad ends up with Oakland or Kansas City or something like that.
Update: The New York Times reports the deal as done with the parameters above, pending a physical.

Comments:
Not a fan of this move at all. I do see the merits of signing a left handed bat, but not necessarily one that's 35 years old with bad knees. My Angels just got older, slower and they lost their ace. Not a great off season, so far.
It's relatively low cost, and for only one year. I don't have a problem with it, but yeah, the Angels are probably looking at the end of their run of division titles pretty soon, with not a whole lot in their farm system to keep them going. The last couple seasons I've thought this team was looking a lot like the 2003 Mariners, the last gasps of an aging team.
