Report: Angels Bid Aybar, Saunders, And Bourjos For Roy Halladay

The Toronto Sun claims that the Angels have offered Erick Aybar, Joe Saunders, and OF prospect Peter Bourjos for Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay. Halladay had previously been speculated as willing to veto any trade to a team with spring training outside of Florida (though he has not said as much).

MLB Hot Stove adds that Halladay will be a free agent at the end of 2010.

Peoples love affair with Joe Saunders is quite unsettling.

Um, care to expand on that, KK?

If I'm the Jays, I want Weaver or Santana or multiple minor league high end arms, not Saunders.

He's 28, never had a FIP below 4.15 (2006, it's risen each year since), and never had an xFIP below 4.58 (2006, risen each year since). Career best K/9 IP is 6.5 (2006, fallen each year since).

Notice a pattern here? He was never good, and has been regressing and pitching worse over the last 4 seasons.

Dude, Saundo is cheap - check out that book Moneyball, teams have to think about salaries as well as stats, learn a little about the inner workings, kid.

Plus, this year he was an idjit and decided to play through an injury that he shoulda been shut down at the start of the season, which really pulled down his numbers. His September/October is a lot more representative of what he is capable of than the rest of his 2009.

Mat- If I'm trading Roy Halladay, I want, you know, someone good in return, not awful Joe Saunders.

If they really care about how expensive the returning players are, just don't trade Roy and take the 2 first rounders next year. Those should be cheaper than Saunders, and regardless, they'll be under team control for longer. Kid.

By the way, your name is missing a T.

Rob- What about his 2006, 2007, and 2008 seasons? All I see is regression. Not a good sign. Unless you're Mat and don't care about performance.
