Update: Bill Shaikin reports MLB has rescinded the appointment due to a potential conflict of interest. You think?

Oh good: so Selig does occasionally worry about conflict of interest. Too bad he wasn't so scrupulous when he appointed a member of the Red Sox board of directors to head up the steroid investigation.
