Dodgers 10, Diamondbacks 0
Flew in from Milwaukee on a chartered planeHm. Team starts playing NL West (where we're now 12-7), team starts winning. Coincidence? Eh, whatever, I'll take it, though overall I still don't feel that sanguine about the team's chances over the long term. Tinkerbell's back in the room, and we know this because Lima threw a two-hitter through eight, with homers from Encarnacion and Beltre, and Paulie going 4-4. Of course, some of the hits might have been converted to outs (especially a string of groundball singles up the middle in the fifth) had Arizona second baseman Matt Kata not separated his shoulder earlier. I don't think I've ever seen Webb look this awful, nor their relief staff. This game was a gift with a pretty bow on top, though the ugly surprise might turn out to be Bradley's re-sprained left ankle.
Man we played some dreadful ball
Wilson banged his hip up in an awful way
Nomo couldn't start at all
We're back in the N-L-L-L West
Now our pitching's the best, boy
Back in the NL
Back in the NL
Back in the N-L-L-L West
Comments:
I don't believe in "supportive"; either the team's playing well or they're not. Going in against the last-place Diamondbacks (minus Richie Sexson, minus reliever Oscar Villareal, and really, not a good team overall), it's not surprising we're getting some wins here. We should be. What bugs is getting swept on the road by the Phils. Besides, what does "supportive" mean, anyway? That we should have Green batting cleanup still?
