Escobarrific! Angels 5, Indians 2

The Vlad Show continued unabated tonight, with Vlad punching Cliff Lee's clock to the tune of 3-4, though this time the RBIs were a mite more evenly distributed, with Figgins (1), Guillen (1), Mondesi (1), and Quinlan (1) getting in on the act, Mondi's coming in on a solo homer. Still, 3-4 and 3 RBIs is a good night by anybody's standards, and the Angels getting a win on a night Shane Halter got playing time (at DH?? 0-4, 2 SO) counts as a definite plus.

Eckstein leaving early can't be a good thing. He's got a strained hamstring, and is listed as day-to-day, which probably means he'll skip a start tomorrow as well.

We needed Escobar to come up big here, and he delivered eight innings of one-run ball. A great outing for him on only 102 pitches, and a much needed night off for the Angels bullpen. Gregg wasn't at his very tip top form, but he got the job done, again. That bullpen has been just phenominal.

Two guys who didn't make it into the game were notable for their absence: Percy, who got a cortisone shot in his elbow, and Kotchman, whose continued slump has all but assured him of irregular playing time. Also missing in action was Scioscia, whose suspension was more than a little silly.
