Los Tres Hermanos Molina
Little brother Yadier Molina has been called up to the majors by the Cardinals after an injury to Mike Matheny. They're very high on him in the Cards organization, good news being hard to come by in their minors these days. Despite the fact that he comes to play for an enemy of my wife's Cubbies, I wish him the best.
Also -- and this is unverified, but comes from a generally reliable source quoting Bill Shelley -- Brian Pilkington is down for the year with arthroscopic surgery. Too bad, as he had a nice year last year, too.
Update: Yadier has collected his first major league hit, a single off Pittsburgh starter Oliver Perez. ¡Viva los Molinas!
