Their scouting director told people two hours two hours before the draft that he was going with local high school right-hander Phil Hughes was ordered by ownership to take Weaver.Yeah, he overpaid for Colón, no question, but picking up Vlad counts for nothing? What about Escobar and Guillen, two guys with supremely reasonable contracts?

Gammon's pissed about the whole Weaver dropping to 12th situation, so apparently he's decided to go negative on the Angels (as opposed to the positive press he's been spinning for us up 'til now). That's not the only slam I've read from him since the draft.
