Gammons On Arte "Tom Hicks" Moreno

Go back to the Globe and covering the Sox, why doncha, if you're gonna write stuff like this:
Also dropping was Jered Weaver to 12th and the Angels, a break for Boras, since Anaheim owner Artie Moreno has proven to be this year's Tom Hicks; Vladimir Guerrero is great, but Bartolo Colon apparently ate his $51 million. Their scouting director told people two hours two hours before the draft that he was going with local high school right-hander Phil Hughes was ordered by ownership to take Weaver.
Yeah, he overpaid for Colón, no question, but picking up Vlad counts for nothing? What about Escobar and Guillen, two guys with supremely reasonable contracts?

Comments:
Gammon's pissed about the whole Weaver dropping to 12th situation, so apparently he's decided to go negative on the Angels (as opposed to the positive press he's been spinning for us up 'til now). That's not the only slam I've read from him since the draft.

Are we supposed to be apalled by the fact that an owner would tell his scouting director to take a certain player? He's the guy who signs the checks, and it's a crap-shoot anyway.

Besides, the less power Bane has the better I feel.

What, the Devil Ray connection doesn't give you a warm fuzzy?
