Brewers 1, Angels 0

Well, we know Josh Paul's gonna start tomorrow.

What a nightmare. It's weeks past Casey Kotchman's sell-by date, Mondesi's showing just why he shouldn't be an everyday player anymore, Amezega shouldn't be an everyday player, ever, and Kennedy's slumping so hard you can hear his batting average bounce. Vlad's barely able to come up with a single or two, and Guillen looked like he was gonna explode if he didn't homer a few times (though mercifully, he took the HBP manfully).

Dammit, we need Eckstein back. But it's going to get worse now: Salmon comes back after barely having played, and now he's a full-time DH on top of probably needing another month to warm up as a hitter? It just kills our lineup flexibility, as well as making the offense less effective.

Okay, I'm done hyperventilating. Positives to take away from this game: everybody, even game-loser Ortiz (and it doesn't seem fair to call him that), pitched well, no, excellently tonight. They got the Brewers to tie a major league record with 26 strikeouts, and handed the Platinum Sombrero to Geoff Jenkins -- six strikeouts. And Kotchman got a hit.

Recap

Update: did anyone else get the feeling after last Wednesday's game that all the hits had been taken out of their bats? It always seems like a big romp does that to them. Why?
