Beltre-Lust Begins

No, I'm not talking Dominican fan-girls here, I'm talking about U.S.S. Mariner eyeing our boy. And don't think the Yankees haven't cast a lustful eye in his direction, either.

We really should long-term the guy. Really, really.

Comments:
Rob;
A little disappointed in you. A perfect opportunity to jump all over the shaky McCourt financial house of cards and you apparently pass. Anyone who believes a ninety day delinquency on a multi-million dollar loan is "normal refinancing practice" is naive.

While I have been reluctant to join you in the past, only in part because I know the baseball accounting system (the Dodger franchise will never lose money), I must say things appear to be headed in the wrong direction.

Why would McCourt want another bitter arbitration hearing with Gagne?? Why wouldn't he want to sign Beltre long term right now? I am still a bit of a skeptic about Beltre and hoping he's not a "one year wonder", but from a simple P.R. standpoint he almost has to sign him. Long term deals can be structured to have the heaviest load come after the contracts of existing dead wood expire.

I don't think there's a chance in a thousand that McCourt will want to pay Gagne, Beltre, Green, Dreifort, etc... next year.

poster above is absolutely right imo, unfortunately. he wouldn't risk signing guerrero, why will he risk the $$ on beltre now? mccourt has not proven one single time that he is committed to winning.

and for the people that will point to all the winning right now, those people probably credit sitting presidents with economic upturns and recessions too. idiots. mccourt has nothing to do with the current team except for depo (except for ridiculous proposals of mascots and raising prices), which could have been lured here regardless of who was owner. not that it was depo that set up this team save for the much improved bench.
