DePo: Might Be Fork Time For Nomo
Thanks to Hardball Times for passing along this story: today in the Daily News, Paul DePodesta doesn't dismiss the possibility that Nomo's career is over:
DePodesta didn't dismiss the possibility that Nomo is simply at the end of his career and that no amount of rehabilitation will make him an effective pitcher again."It may be, but I don't know," DePodesta said. "I hope not. We're hopeful that with some rest and some strengthening programs that maybe, later on in the year, we'll get the guy who has pitched here, not only for the last couple years but over the last 10 years."
Comments:
You know, I'll be extremely dissapointed if they release Nomo. The guy has given us everything he's got for the past few years. Without Nomo, last year, the dodgers would have been below .500 imo. Besides, releasing him doesn't save us any money, because no team is going to pick him up. this is one time where objectivity over sentiment doesn't net any gain.
Just let him work out his problems on the DL. If he somehow miraculously regains his form, great. If he doesn't, let him hang around inactive for the rest of the season and retire as a dodger. a great dodger at that.
