Pickoff Moves

Los Angeles Angels, Not

As expected, the Angels' president Dennis Kuhl provided confirmation that the Angels will still be Anaheim. Whew. It's nice having the team sort alphabetically first no matter whether it's by city or by team name.

Colon-ectomy

God, I've been waiting all year to use that hed. No, the Angels didn't actually drop Colon from the rotation, but they did move him to the five spot. About friggin' time.

Trade Ortiz? Just Say No, Bill

In that same story, a rehash of the Ortiz-to-the-Mets story. If it were up to me, Bartolo would be in the bullpen and Ortiz in the rotation, but what do I know? It's called pitching depth.

News Corp. Part Owner Of Rockies

Arrive In The Third... links to this New York Times story reporting Fox has taken a 10-15% ownership position in the Colorado Rockies. While I only know of one fan directly, if he actually reads this blog, I forward my ongoing condolences. Todd Helton, prepare to be traded.

K-Rod, Meet F-Her

... or something like that. Mariners Wheelhouse links to this Tacoma News-Tribune story about Mariners prospect Felix Hernandez. With a slider that's been compared to Frankie Rodriguez's but a starter's durability, he could be the most important pitching prospect in the AL West right now. And, yeah, he's only 18.

Comments:
Rob - I snuck in a Colon-ectomy at Wheelhouse yesterday - beat you to it.

I'd been waiting for awhile to use, and your letter to Batgirl gave me the opportunity.

Personally, I think its been a lot of smoke and mirrors. The starting pitching has been shaky. The relief pitching has helped out a ton. I have to give many thanks for the team defense. No way would we even have a sniff of first place if the D was average.

Other than Green and Encarcion, the batting has been fine. If we need anything, its another arm.
