Rumorsville
From the Boston Globe, a whole mess of noise around the leagues:
- Houston is considering throwing in the towel, and Carlos Beltran might be on the block yet again.
- Boston's starters' fortunes are in severe decline, else why the rumored acquisition attempt for Randy Johnson (as though there weren't a zillion of those around already), and the actual acquisition of Pedro Astacio (to a minor league contract)?
- And... the Devil Rays buyers at the trade deadline? And... .252/.359/.370 John Olerud to Boston? Do the M's pay a garbage collection fee for that?
- The O's picking up Zito for Hairston and prospects? Whatever.
