Cubs 6, Phillies 3

Maddux didn't get his 300th win today, but he didn't lose, either, and Nomar got a key RBI in his debut, playing a very smooth shortstop.

The Phillies are going nowhere. Larry Bowa's employment with the Phillies is over, or will be shortly; the Phils played not badly, but hardly impressively, either, with the win coming off the bullpen, and lackluster defense throughout infield and outfield. In fairness, the day at Wrigley was hot and humid; Sosa left the game from exhaustion due to the heat.

Outside of the Angels, I think we can safely declare the Phils first out of the postseason among the preseason favorites.
