Jinx Is A Cartoon Cat: Angels 5, Royals 3

Whew. For a second, I thought I really had jinxed a sweep, all the way up to the ninth of today's game, and then -- well, the Royals suddenly remembered they're the Royals, and faster than you can say "Troy Percival", the Angels won it.

God, our offense stinks. One. Friggin'. Double. Ortiz kept KC's punchless offense sorta under control, but the news announced during the radio broadcast that Washburn will be down for another month isn't at all encouraging. Looking at the schedule for the next month, the team's gonna face Baltimore (3 at home), Detroit (3 at home), Tampa Bay (3 on the road), the Yanks (3 in their house), KC again (3 at home), the Twins (3 at home), and Boston (one game). About evenly split between sucky and not so sucky, but I'm on the record predicting a Yankees road sweep; if we win even one I'll be shocked. Neither offense nor pitching is clicking right now, and that's an awful sign.
