Pickoff Moves

Ishii Loses Starting Role

We can be pretty sure this signals DePo means business, and Ishii's second-half meltdowns will not be tolerated. I feel badly for him, because he's had some terrific games, including the two complete games. It feels like an overreaction, but I have to admit that, given the difficulty of the teams we face going down the stretch, it's not.

Angels 7, Royals 5

Oh, those hard-to-defeat Royals! How pesky! And how hot their bats! Our vaunted pitching staff really had to work for that win, didn't they? Whew, I'm glad we're going to play... oh, wait, there's nobody worse in the AL.

Recap

The Big Cat Can Still Hit

3-4 with a homer at Salt Lake. And 2-5 again tonight. There's something left in that tank, after all.

Lint From The Logs

Geesh, the things you find in your logs. Like the search term "future of MLM 6-4-2". Folks, let me assure you that this blog has nothing to do with network marketing, Scientology, phrenology, the Loch Ness monster, Bigfoot, crop circles, the Bermuda Triangle, Heidi Fleiss's tax returns, or dowsing. On the plus side, I'd like to thank LA Observed for the link today.

NYT On DePo's Trades

Took 'em long enough, but the hed is worth the price of entry alone: "Tinkering Dodgers Won't Ever Leave Anything to Chance". Get it? Tinker to Evers to Chance? Ah, well, you'd have to be a Chicago fan to know that one.

Comments:
Trio of bear cubs, and fleeter than birds,

Tinker and Evers and Chance.

Ruthlessly pricking our gonfalon bubble,

Making a Giant hit into a double —

Words that are weighty with nothing but trouble:

"Tinker to Evers to Chance."
