A's On The Block?
If this is true, the Angels are in for a world of hurt -- maybe. Lewis Wolff, the LA-based developer who earlier signed up to help the A's find a new stadium deal, now has expressed interest in buying part of the A's. The report further says that Steve Schott "would be bowing out soon". The obvious speculation is that with a backer with deeper pockets, retaining free agents might be a easier sell, though this is by no means assured; the Twins' owner, Carl Pohlad, is both notoriously wealthy -- and notoriously cheap.
