Confirmed: Morales Signed
On angelsbaseball.com:
ANAHEIM -- Cuban defector Kendry Morales, a power-hitting youngster described by some baseball observers as the best position player to come out of his country in decades, has reached agreement on a six-year contract with the Angels.Depending on the size of the contract, this could spell the end of Jered Weaver as an Angel.Morales' agent, David Valdes told MLB.com on Wednesday that his client has agreed to a deal that will secure him a spot on the 40-man roster.
"Kendry projects to be a strong hitter in the middle of a Major League lineup," Angels general manager Bill Stoneman said in a news release. "As a young player, he was a major force on an very good Cuban national team."
