Tim Hudson To A's: Love Me Or Lose Me
Tim Hudson has established a hard time limit for the A's to resign him: March 1. If the Oakland ace isn't under a new contract by then, he will leave the club via free agency at the end of the year.
"There's no way I'm going to go through what Jason and Miggy went through, answering questions every day and in every city we go," Hudson, 29, told MLB.com. "It's not fair to my teammates, for one thing. All that does is create a distraction, and if I'm with the A's next season, the only thing I want the focus on is us trying to win a championship."After that, I'll file for free agency and go pitch somewhere else."
Oakland general manager Billy Beane took the ultimatum in stride. "I really don't have much of a reaction at all," said Beane. "This kind of thing happens in our business all the time. It's their prerogative to set a deadline.
