Signings News

They weren't before?

Into every Mets generation a Mo Vaughn must fall, I guess...

Re: Clayton. I made the mistake of violating my rule of not posting my thoughts before the winter season was over. It's a mistake, I suppose, if we keep Cintron for the next 2 or 3 years. What I failed to do was wait to see what happens in the next 3 months. If we permanently move Cintron (to 2B or out of the organization), then the one-year Clayton deal is better because we'll either have Sergio Santos or (wishful thinking cap on) Stephen Drew ready to take his place in 2006.

Did the Snakes manage to sign Drew? Because last time I checked, all the kids taking Boras' advice were still in a holding pattern.

No, Rob, the negotiations with Drew have been stalled (i.e., non-existent) for some time now. I can hope (with my "Wishful Thinking Cap" TM on), but I don't think he'll become a D-Back.
