Dodgers To Pursue Longer-Term Contract With Penny
In the Pasadena Star-News, Paul DePodesta claims the Dodgers are interested in long-terming the former Marlin.
General manager Paul DePodesta said he hopes to begin negotiations soon on a longer-term contract for the five-year veteran.Penny and the Dodgers reached an agreement yesterday on a one-year, $5.1M contract."I don't think (it will happen) this week, but we know he's a free agent at the end of this year, and I think we would certainly like to have discussions long before that becomes a reality,' DePodesta said. "We wanted to go ahead and get this (one-year deal) out of the way, but I think we would all have some interest in making this a long-term relationship."
