The Johnson Trade's Underreported Missing Link

Since the Daily News seems to be the only paper reporting it, I'll reprint the following paragraph from yesterday's story on a proposed Shawn Green trade:
This deal is dependent on the Diamondbacks completing the Johnson trade, without which they won't have Navarro, Halsey or Duncan to deal. The Diamondbacks reportedly are unwilling to trade Johnson without getting Green, which makes the two trades interdependent.
Now, it could be the case that the Daily News is wrong here, and the Diamondbacks are dumb enough to let the back end of these trades fall through without executing them, but I doubt it. The New York Post, Newsday, and the New York Times treat the deal as though it's completed and Johnson's in Yankee pinstripes. Some of the bloggers think it's real, too, but with so much previous hemming and hawing, the bloggers have their skeptics as well.

I have a word of advice for Yankee fans: don't count your Units before they're snatched.
