Conflicting Reports On Ishii/Phillips Trade

Now we have conflicting reports from both New York and Los Angeles on the proposed Ishii/Phillips trade. From mets.mlb.com, the trade includes money in excess of the $2.2M buyout of Ishii's 2006 season, and the deal awaits Bud Selig's approval. But, according to dodgers.com, no such deal exists, and Paul DePodesta said, "There is not something done at this point. For me, nothing's done until it's really done." However, this sounds more like DePo being cautious after last year's abortive Charles Johnson trade, and the various flavors of Randy Johnson trades that also didn't work out in the 2004/5 offseason.
Ishii's New York-based agent, Joe Urbon, said that he received a "courtesy" message from DePodesta on Friday night saying that a deal was in the works but not completed.

"That call was significant in my mind because I didn't get one the last time," said Urbon. "Kaz and I are both under the assumption that it's likely and about to happen, although I'm gun-shy after everything that happened with the Yankees. And here we are with another New York team."

Update 3/20: Baseball Crank has the Mets-end reaction to this: "...the Dodgers may be eating some of Ishii's contract, although frankly I'd rather they just ate Ishii." Would you like some wasabi to go with that?
