How To Be Your Own ESPN Rumor Central

For those people who haven't figured it out already, or are interested in saving some money, here's what to do if you see an interesting rumor appearing in the for-pay portion of ESPN, i.e. Rumor Central:
  1. Go to the online editions of the local newspapers covering that team.
  2. Read them.
That's it. You could probably get an even better idea of which papers to scan through by reading the most active bloggers covering those teams.

Comments:
I've noticed that my personalized ESPN homepage now includes links to stories in local papers. But the links only work for Insider subscribers. You've got to pay for links to websites that are otherwise free!

Richard -- now there's a business opportunity!
