A Mess O' BA Stuff
With the draft coming up, Baseball America's heating up. No time for a proper post, but I wanted to heave these overboard:
- Angels first-round draft pick Jared Weaver has joined Stephen Drew in the Atlantic League, as a teammate on the Camden Riversharks.
- Long Beach State Dirtbag Troy Tulowitzki is profiled (but see the cut-n-paste copyright violation at Dirtbags Baseball for non-subscribers). Tulo is one heckuva good shortstop, and thinking is he's a top five pick, maybe even number one overall.
- Speaking of, BA has their predraft blog going, and word outside SoCal is that Weaver will sign with the Angels, though it may be on the last day of eligibility.
- BA's first-round draft projection likes Tulo for the third overall pick by the M's.
- Via FutureAngels Blog (who noticed it first), the Angels signed draft-and-follow RHP Stephen Marek from San Jacinto (TX) JC for "high second-round money", according to Allan Simpson's draft chat.
- Two Dodger prospects, Thomas Farmer and Heath Totten, were suspended for steroid use. Both were at AAA Las Vegas.
