Roster Moves
- Wilson Alvarez returns to active duty. Buddy Carlyle (no record, 8.18 ERA, 11 IP) was sent down to AAA Las Vegas.
- Jon points us to a Las Vegas Sun article that implies Jose Valentin has been DL'd (because utilityman Mike Edwards has been called up). No official word yet on the team's 25-man roster.
- Former Dodger Guillermo Mota has gone on the 15-day DL with an elbow injury, retroactive to April 25.
- Too easy to steal this one from the Transaction Guy, so I will:
San Diego Padres purchase IF Damian Jackson from AAA Portland, DFA OF Adam Hyzdu, place RHP Woody Williams (strained oblique) on the DL (retro 5/2) and recall LHP Randy Williams from AAA Portland.
The Pads just can't stay healthy this year, it seems, and every day brings worse trouble. Their shortstop problems deteriorated with Geoff Blum's injury, which means digging deeper into a farm system ranked the worst in the NL West by Baseball America. Fortunately, it shouldn't be too long before Blum is back (how bad's that bruise, again?), but the bigger worry is Khalil Greene and his busted finger.
