Lowry And The Unseasoned Dodgers: Giants 6, Dodgers 0

Can you raise both your hands and clap 'em?
Can you say, "sure, I'll always try"?
Can you make friends among people and animals?
Basically, everything is easy
Give it a try, you'll see I'm right
Cause if a mouse can be special, well so can you

And my name is Mickey Mouse
To the right is Minnie Mouse
And we own a little place in Disneyland, California
-- Sparks, "Mickey Mouse"
Speaking of Mickey Mouse, is there anyone on this team who knows how to hit? I mean I guess I could understand some of it -- Lowry was a really good pitcher last year and the guy appears to be actively learning -- but, man, this one was painful. Which player is which?

A. .241/.322/.3951. Paul Bako
B. .331/.401/.4362. Jayson Werth
C. .352/.406/.3983. Antonio Perez
D. .250/.362/.3004. Oscar Robles

Answers: A-2, B-3, C-4, D-1

Seriously, the Dodgers are getting more production out of their banjo-hitting replacement infielders than they are out of their alleged starting corner outfielder! Now that's pathetic. About the best we can hope for here is that Bradley comes back sometime soon.

And, yeah, Lowe, that "weak infield defense" schtick is getting really old, really fast. Try not leaving pitches up in the zone next time, huh? Bum.

Oh, and eight and a half back of the Pads.

Update: The DePodesta Ass-Kicking Brigade has opened for business. Sign me up as a provisional member. DePo is known to have frequent conversations with Billy Beane; d'ya suppose one of them went something like this?

PD: The current paradigm for the starting rotation is all wrong, Billy. I keep asking myself, if I had to do this all over, is this the way I would do it? No, I say; new ideas roll into my head like fleas on a scabrous dingo's butt. Yet, the conventional wisdom says we need five pitchers to compete in the regular season. What to do?

BB: Sign Lowe.

PD: You're mad! He's expensive, he just had a completely non-repeatable postseason run, and all his peripherals are headed downhill faster than the Swiss Olympic luge team.

BB: Sure. That's why you do it. What do you care, right? It's not like it's your money, eh?

PD: Well, now that you mention it... you're right. You're exactly right. (In a trance) On Opening Day, payroll disappears.

BB: Exactly.

This, kids, is how decisions get done. By remote control. Seriously, it makes me wonder what kind of a GM Beane would be if he had the money to waste.

Comments:
I daresay he deserves it.
