Minor League Scorebook

2005-07-17: Fresno 11, Salt Lake 4
Prieto: 1-3, 2 BB
Mathis: 2-4
Gordon: 2-4
Moseley: (L, 4-6), 4.0 IP, 3 ER, 2 K, 1 BB, 5.09 ERA
Schneider: 2.0 IP, 4 ER, 2 K, 1 BB, 6.71 ERA
Woods: 2.0 IP, 3 ER, 2 K, 1 BB, 13.50 ERA
Looking at the line on this game was the thing that got me thinking about Moseley last night, actually. He had already been up and down to AAA twice before the trade, so make that three times now. He's rapidly heading toward irrelevance; at 23, he still has some time left, but he needs to start applying himself more. Sometimes, I think the Angels just don't know beans about good pitching, and Moseley is a data point in that direction.
2005-07-17: Arkansas 6, Corpus Christi 1
Kendrick, H: 2-5
Napoli, M: 0-2, 2 BB
Porter: 1-4, 1 HR
Gates: 2-4, 1 HR
Reyes: 1-4, 1 HR
O'Sullivan: 2.0 IP, 0 ER, 5.68 ERA
Austen: (W, 1-1) (in relief), 2.0 IP, 0 ER, 2 K, 1 BB, 5.40 ERA
Travs pitchers four-hit the Hooks in this game. Pedro Borbon, Jr. made two outs, and now has a 0.00 ERA in 2.1 IP so far for the Travs.
2005-07-17: Lancaster 10, Rancho Cucamonga 8
Peel, A: 1-4, 1 HR
Remole: 1-3, 2 BB
Wood, B: 3-5, 1 HR, 3 RBI
Wilson: 2-5
Brown: 3-5
Holcomb: (L, 6-5), 4.1 IP, 6 ER, 1 K, 3 BB, 5.29 ERA
DeLoizaga-Carney: 1.2 IP, 4 ER, 3 K, 1 BB, 6.75 ERA
MacKenzie: 2.0 IP, 0 ER, 3 K, 1 BB, 6.31 ERA
This game was a wild one, with an ejection and a whole lot of hitting. Brandon Wood's dinger was his 31st.
2005-07-17: Cedar Rapids 1, Peoria 2
Casilla: 2-4
Cordova: (L, 3-3), 3.1 IP, 1 ER, 5 K, 3 BB, 2.93 ERA
2005-07-17: AZL Angels 9, AZL Athletics 1
Phillips: 2-4
Ryan: 3-5, 1 HR, 3 RBI
Johnson: 3-3, 1 HR
Espinoza: (W, 3-1), 5.0 IP, 0 ER, 8 K, 3 BB, 1.38 ERA
Beck: 2.0 IP, 0 ER, 2 K, 1 BB, 0.00 ERA
That's right: Beck has not allowed an earned run in 9.2 IP, with eight strikeouts and seven hits allowed. But look at Espinoza's even more sparkling line: 32.2 IP, 28 K's, and a measely six walks. Good stuff, kids.
2005-07-17: Orem 13, Helena 8
Statia: 1-4, 2 BB
Coon: 3-5
Trumbo: 3-6
Morris: 3-6
Overstreet: 2-5
Boyer: 1-5, 1 HR
Smith: 2-5
Arredondo: 3.1 IP, 4 ER, 1 K, 1 BB, 6.86 ERA
Didjurgis: (W, 2-1) (in relief), 3.1 IP, 1 ER, 1 K, 0 BB, 2.37 ERA
Pete: 1.1 IP, 1 ER, 2 K, 0 BB, 3.00 ERA
Trumbo's still striking out a ton (29 on the season vs 36 hits and 7 walks), but he's getting the results otherwise. It'll be interesting to see what happens once he gets to Rancho. Dallas Morris is having similar issues, but he's been a little better at keeping the K's under control (22 in 109 AB).
2005-07-17: Tucson 11, Las Vegas 4
Donovan, T: 3-5
Flores: 2-3
Nakamura: 0-3, 2 BB
Schrager: 2-3
Thompson: (L, 1-2), 4.0 IP, 1 ER, 5 K, 3 BB, 3.43 ERA
Venafro: 2.0 IP, 4 ER, 1 K, 2 BB, 8.36 ERA
Thompson had a great line in this game so far, so it's unclear why they pulled him early. Maybe it had something to do with the 115 degree weather. Jose Valentin made his first rehab appearance, going 1-2.
2005-07-17: Jacksonville 9, Montgomery 4
Garcia: 3-5, 1 HR, 4 RBI
Martin, R: 2-5
Young, D: 3-5, 1 HR, 3 RBI
Meadows: 3-5

Jackson: (W, 3-2), 6.0 IP, 3 ER, 2 K, 1 BB, 3.19 ERA
Rodriguez: 2.0 IP, 1 ER, 2 K, 0 BB, 4.50 ERA
Avast! Jackson win across the starboard bow! Actually, this win increased his ERA, which stood at 2.88 as of his last win on July 8.
2005-07-17: Dunedin 6, Vero Beach 7
Hu: 2-5
Kemp: 3-5, 1 HR, 3 RBI
Dunlap: 2-5
Merricks: 2.2 IP, 4 ER, 0 K, 2 BB, 6.14 ERA

2005-07-17: Ogden 0, Missoula 3
Leach: (L, 2-2), 6.0 IP, 2 ER, 6 K, 2 BB, 2.05 ERA
Meloan: 2.0 IP, 1 ER, 4 K, 1 BB, 3.00 ERA
