Minor League Scorebook
Kotchman: 3-5
Pride: 1-2, 4 BB
Allen: 2-6, 3 RBI
Bergman, D: (W, 6-3) (in relief), 2.0 IP, 1 ER, 2 K, 0 BB, 2.44 ERA
Two doubles -- good going, Kotch. Pride can still get walks, good to know. And a nice line for Dusty Bergman. We might see him down the stretch. Callaspo looked like he was ready to collapso, hitting .214 after this game, .182 before it. Apparently, the Stingers had a seven-run tenth inning, with Kotchman getting a crucial double.
Update: Richard's right, 22 AB is kinda small. But I get the impression Collaspo was booted upstairs less because he's good enough to be there than there's other guys elsewhere in the system who need playing time at AA (read: Howie Kendrick).
Collazo: (L, 1-2), 6.0 IP, 0 ER, 4 K, 4 BB, 3.22 ERA
A listless loss for the Travs. Pedro Borbon, Jr. pitched a scoreless inning with two strikeouts.
Weaver: (W, 4-1), 7.0 IP, 0 ER, 10 K, 2 BB, 3.82 ERA
AKA Weaver Kicks Ass, Takes Names: I called Rich a couple times during this one, and I think we both agree that Jered's Excellent Late Spring Training Adventure starts to look awfully like he needs to get promoted before he gets bored. He's brought his ERA down from the stratospheric to the pretty good, and he's two seven inning shutouts away from a sub-3.00 ERA. Offensively, this was a horrible game, with neither side really doing much against the other side's pitching; the 66ers lost the game with their bullpen, but they actually did a pretty good job, the loss notwithstanding.
One other item of note: the 66ers' Chad Fillinger, who looked like roster filler last year, has somehow miraculously transmogrified himself into a strikeout king, picking up nine in the game (against a Quakes team missing Howie Kendrick, though Brandon Wood wasn't able to get anything on him, either). Fillinger's 2005 line with the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in the Midwest League isn't anything to sneeze at: 2.70 ERA, 2-3, 11.00 K/9, and 4.08 K/BB ratio. He's been roughed up in early going in the Cal league -- not a surprise -- but nice numbers at the lower level and tonight's outing might make him somebody to watch in the Mariners' system.
Upate: Here's the San Bernardino Sun recap. Notable Weaver quote on the Quakes' scoring of their lone run:
"Buckley just shoved it up their (butt)," Weaver said. "And [closer Bob Zimmerman's] been good all year."
Collins: 2-4
Madrigal: 2-4
Ray: 3.0 IP, 2 ER, 3 K, 1 BB, 4.57 ERA
Mutter: (BS, 1)(L, 2-1) (in relief), 1.1 IP, 3 ER, 1 K, 2 BB, 3.75 ERA
Mount: 2-3
Phillips: 2-4, 4 RBI
Adenhart: 3.0 IP, 3 ER, 2 K, 3 BB, 5.27 ERA
Cassevah: 3.0 IP, 0 ER, 3 K, 1 BB, 7.11 ERA
Peacock: (W, 1-1) (in relief), 2.0 IP, 0 ER, 3 K, 0 BB, 6.10 ERA
Not sure, but I have a feeling they're working Adenhart gradually into longer outings, that is, his exit after three innings had nothing to do with his line.
Morris: 2-5
Boyer: 2-3, 1 HR
Marek: 5.0 IP, 1 ER, 7 K, 1 BB, 4.50 ERA
Morillo: 2.2 IP, 0 ER, 3 K, 0 BB, 5.51 ERA
Abreu: (L, 0-2) (in relief), 2.0 IP, 1 ER, 0 K, 0 BB, 4.15 ERA
Trumbo, who's been in a little slump lately, went 0-5.

Myrow: 2-5, 1 HR
Navarro, D: 0-2, 2 BB
Totten: (L, 7-8), 4.0 IP, 5 ER, 1 K, 3 BB, 6.53 ERA
Gonzalez: 2.0 IP, 2 ER, 2 K, 1 BB, 4.50 ERA
Milton Bradley went 0-3 in leadoff, and Jose Valentin, playing second base, was 0-0 with a walk.
