Two More On The Farm
- First we have the Baseball America weekly Hot Sheet, with Brandon Wood, Jered Weaver, and Howie Kendrick in the one, two, and three slots, respectively. The Dodgers pick up four in the "In The Team Photo" section in the persons of Chad Billingsley, Travis Denker, Andy LaRoche, and Delwyn Young.
- Second, more on tonight's start by Jered Weaver for Arkansas (in progress as I write, and of course I can't follow it because their only broadcast stream is Windows Media Player) in the Springfield News-Leader. Baseball America recently ranked the Cards' system as the worst in the minors, and the players know it:
It's actually an interesting pitching matchup, for the right-hander will be matched opposite the Cardinals' Stuart Pomeranz, the organization's second-round pick a year ago who seeks his third win in 12 starts and is unabashed about facing one of the game's most publicized pitchers.
"Hopefully it goes bad for him," Pomeranz said, only half-serious.
"I need a win, and it would be a good one to get."
Thing is, Weaver comes steamrolling into town having won four straight starts in the High-A California League and has yielded only seven hits to the last 66 batters he's faced.
