Jackson's first good start in... oh, I don't know, forever? Lots of offensive fireworks here, including LaRoche's dinger.
Update 8/4: More on this game from the Knoxville News:
Jackson held Tennessee to two hits and two runs over six innings and the Suns defeated the Smokies 8-3 on Wednesday night at Smokies Park."He's doing better and slowly getting back to where he was," Rick Honeycutt, Los Angeles' minor league pitching coordinator said.
Honeycutt knows pitching. He spent 21 years in the major leagues after starring at the University of Tennessee. He also knows it isn't an exact science.
"You wish you knew all the answers," he said. "But it (demotion) was to get his confidence back."
Jackson's numbers with Las Vegas were misleading, Honeycutt said.
"Vegas is a really bad place to send a young kid," he said. "You make any mistakes at all and it's runs."
That's only part of Jackson's problem. Experience-wise, he is a teenager.
"He's a really young pitcher because he was an outfielder in high school," Honeycutt explained. "He needs to get back to the basics. This is where I felt like he needed to be."
Hu: 0-3

Dunlap: 2-4, 2 RBI
Denker, T: 1-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI

Ojeda: 3.0 IP, 0 ER, 0 H, 5 K, 0 BB, 2.94 ERA
No sooner do I put him on my interesting player list than he gets a home run. Good stuff.
2005-08-03: GCL Marlins 13, GCL Dodgers 5
2005-08-03: Idaho Falls 4, Ogden 7
Soto: 2-4, 1 RBI

Brooks: 2-4
Arias, M: (W, 3-1), 7.0 IP, 3 ER, 4 H, 5 K, 1 BB, 4.93 ERA
Update 8/4: I've said before that there's a special place in my heart for Aussies in the game, and I was pleasantly surprised to find one in the Dodgers system in the person of David Sutherland:
Ogden's big first baseman -- he's 6-foot-6 -- is fourth in the Pioneer League in hitting (.378) and second in hits (62) through 41 games.Sutherland has a .378/.455/.451 line at Ogden, in 164 ABs, with nearly twice as many walks (23) as strikeouts (14)."He's a hitting machine," Raptors teammate Adam Godwin said. "It seems like every night he's getting at least two hits. He's been phenomenal. He's having an unbelievable year. You wouldn't expect him to be here [in Ogden] with those types of numbers. And what is he, 19 or 20 years old?"
