Minor League Scorebook

First off, the score for the AZL Angels game yesterday finally did come in (look down the page for it), but I still haven't gotten a complete game report for the Rome/Columbus game. Later today, I hope.

2005-08-20: Sacramento 6, Salt Lake 9

Callaspo, A: 0-4
Paul: 2-4, 1 RBI
Quinlan: 3-4, 1 RBI
Mathis, J: 1-3, 1 RBI
Gorneault: 2-3, 1 HR, 4 RBI
Sorensen: 3-4
Thomas: (W, 6-4), 6.0 IP, 3 ER, 6 H, 5 K, 0 BB, 1 HR, 7.05 ERA
Prinz: 3.0 IP, 2 ER, 3 H, 4 K, 3 BB, 1 HR, 6.00 ERA
Gorneault's three-run homer paced the Angels' AAA affiliate, who knocked out the A's AAA club with a six-run second inning. Bret Prinz? Not so good, but he's coming back from an injury. Q's heating up fast, too.

With the win, the Stingers are within a half game of first-place Tacoma.

2005-08-20: Frisco 7, Arkansas 12
Aybar, E: 3-4
Willits, R: 1-4
Kendrick, H: 3-5, 1 HR, 3 RBI
Napoli, M: 1-4, 1 HR, 3 RBI
Murphy: 2-5, 1 HR, 3 RBI
Morales, K: 1-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI
Porter: 2-4
Collazo: 5.0 IP, 7 ER, 10 H, 6 K, 0 BB, 3 HR, 5.78 ERA
Austen: (W, 4-3) (in relief), 2.0 IP, 0 ER, 2 H, 0 K, 0 BB, 4.23 ERA
Two five-run innings were the difference here, as four Travs homered in this game, three of them solo shots. It's not often you see a pitcher give up seven runs and for the team to win despite it.

Napoli's dinger was his 26th, and leads the Texas League. Howie Kendrick's was originally called a ground rule double, but ruled a home run on appeal by manager Tom Gamboa.

2005-08-20: Rancho Cucamonga 3, High Desert 8
Wood, B: 1-4
Wilson: 2-3, 1 HR, 3 RBI
Rodriguez, R: (L, 8-5), 5.2 IP, 6 ER, 8 H, 2 K, 2 BB, 3 HR, 4.79 ERA
2005-08-20: Cedar Rapids 4, Clinton 0
Sutton: 2-5
Rodriguez, S: 1-4
Toussaint: 0-3
Collins: 1-4
Madrigal: 1-4, 1 RBI
Walston: 1-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI
Gelinas: (W, 8-8), 8.1 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, 9 K, 0 BB, 4.15 ERA
2005-08-20: AZL Angels 6, AZL Padres 1 (missing line score)
Nieves: 2-4
Rivera: 0-1, 3 BB
Edwards: 2-4, 1 HR, 2 RBI
Mendoza: (W, 3-2), 6.0 IP, 0 ER, 2 H, 7 K, 3 BB, 1.37 ERA
Diaz: 2.0 IP, 1 ER, 2 H, 3 K, 0 BB, 3.38 ERA
Another gem by Thomas Mendoza, who's getting some startlingly good outings strung right together. He's only started three games, but the results are very encouraging.
2005-08-20: Orem 4, Great Falls 8
Trumbo: 1-3, 1 HR, 3 RBI
Wipke: 1-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI
Shearer: (L, 1-3), 4.0 IP, 3 ER, 5 H, 2 K, 1 BB, 3.54 ERA
That would be Trumbo's fifth home run with the Angels, and his first since August 2.
2005-08-20: Portland 15, Las Vegas 3
Young, D: 2-5, 1 HR, 1 RBI
Aybar: 1-2
Nakamura: 2-4
